Australian music artists beware; 4/09/08

by "Soundhaspriority" <nowhere@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 9, 2008 at 12:21 PM

There is a guy in Cairns who is trying to get into the recording biz. His
name is Brian L. McCarty. While I can't rule out the possibility that Mr.
McCarty can make recordings, his background suggests extreme caution. May
I
suggest:

1. Don't give him any money in advance.
2. Stay away from any schemes of partner****p or investment that he may
offer.
3. If possible, choose another recording engineer.

Mr. McCarty was once employed in the motion picture sound business in LA.
He
moved to Cairns in the late 90's. There he began an attempt to finance
two
web ventures: http://www.coralseastudios.com,
and
http://www.worldjazz.com.

Both of these adventures ended badly. In the case of Coral Seas, the
collapse began when ABN Amro pulled out of the partner****p, probably for
good reasons. McCarty has for many years been a pest on the audio
newsgroups, engaging in defamation. He also maintains the website
http://robertmorein.blogspot.com/,
which appears intended to defame the
author of this post, and makes posts to "usenet" with a wide variety of
aliases. The contents are completely fictitious, and he has authored
additional libelous material which he displays at various sites from time
to
time. Please note that these websites do not identify the owner or author
of
the material, nor does it give contact information. This post is signed,
and
you may contact me by phone if you wish.

Desperate to refinance Coral Seas, McCarty attempted investment fraud with

website content that was blatantly false, and involved the stolen
identities
of many unknowing individuals. Some of this continues on the website
today.

Recently, McCarty's Baskin Robbins franchise in Cairns, one of the most
profitable in Australia, was taken away from him -- for very good reasons.

Now unemployed, he appears desperate to break into the recording business.

It appears he has spent some of his own money, insufficient for the job,
to
do this. He is now soliciting business in Cairns.

Normally, I would wish an individual well. But you should know that
McCarty
is a major internet pest, who still commits identity theft on the internet

in a major way. Personal interactions with McCarty can appear to go well,
until you "brush him the wrong way." Anyone who works with McCarty takes
risks. It is my personal belief that he is a fundamentally evil man.

If McCarty offers you a good deal for recording, should you take it? My
advice: Walk away. The following summary is provided for those who would
like more detail:

OFFICIAL RAM BLUEBOOK VALUATION" is actually Brian L. McCarty, a pest on
rec.audio.marketplace, where he accuses innocent sellers of various
misdeeds. He appears to be a pathological liar, with unknown motivations.

McCarty is the owner/author of websites
http://www.coralseastudios.com,http://www.worldjazz.com,
and
http://robertmorein.blogspot.com/

Both Coralseas and Worldjazz have used fraudulent advertising in attempts
to
attract investors. Both have been unsuccessful. While Worldjazz.com is
still
owned by McCarty,he does not currently use it to promote a business
interest.

McCarty is an American expatriate, originally from the Chicago area, then
LA
where he worked as a sound mixer, currently living in Cairns
Australia,where
he used to manage the Baskin-Robbins ice cream franchise located at
    Shop G6, 59 The Esplanade
      Cairns QLD 4870
      07 4051 4034

McCarty lives in the Coral Sands apartment complex at 65 Vasey Esplanade,
Trinity beach, a bit north of metropolitan Cairns. Baskin-Robbins
Australia
may be contacted at
http://www.baskinrobbins.com.au/home/contactus.asp

Despite the satirically altered photography of Brian McCarty that has
circulated the Internet, Brian is neither trim nor fat. He is about 6'2",
220 lbs, with a modest middle-age paunch. He has a fairly large bone
structure, but is not muscular. From the front, his face is squarish, and
apparently flat, the nose small. However, in profile, he has significant
mandibular protrusion, ie., extension of the lower jaw, in a "wicked
witch"
profile. His eye sockets are deep. His eye color is grey.

Brian's hair is straight, and silver gray, with no signs of recession
beyond
teenage levels. His face appears devoid of hair. His smile is always
close-lipped, probably to hide the cross bite malocclusion that
accompanies
mandibular protrusion. He appears to have an airway restriction, which
gives
his voice a choked upward pitch. His shoulders are very rounded.

The general appearance of Brian strongly resembles that of someone with
Klinefelter's syndrome,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klinefelter's_syndrome,

when the affected individual has two X chromsomes. While many such
individuals have intelligence in the normal range, there is a high
incidence of psychosis. The individual is almost always sterile. The
breast
cancer rate is the same as among females, but when cancer occurs, it tends

to spread more aggressively.

Brian is not simply a stay-at-home Internet addict; we know that for a
number of years, he has made a game of "counting coup", or "super-spy",
traveling great distances to be physically near a stranger. It was
interesting to observe Brian playing his game. His face becomes a mask
with
a pasted-on-smile, and his eyes become fish-eyes. His demeanor is
nonthreatening. He may linger alone, then mingle in a clot of people who
do
not know him, using this fictitious association as a disguise.

The paradox of Brian is that in the past he has been a reasonably
competent
businessman, with a few sparks of inspiration, once demonstrated by the
websites http://www.worldjazz.com,
and http://www.coralseastudios.com
 .
But
his dark side, with which we are all familiar, is the compulsion to defame

strangers, damage their businesses, steal identities, and even destroy
whole
cyber-communities. Back in 2001, I decided to do what I could to blunt his

influence. I thought that, perhaps, McCarty was simply one of those
rough-edged individuals who we have come to know for their loud mouths and

domineering personalities. I hoped that Mr. McCarty could be dissuaded
from
his antisocial activities. Instead, several of us became targets of
McCarty,
and were plaintiffs in a law enforcement investigation. But Internet law
was
an infant, and prosecution was then declined by the U.S. Attorney,
District
of Connecticut.

In the intervening years, it became apparent that McCarty was involved in
a
number of dubious enterprises, which shared a common theme. There is a
Twilight Zone that separates the overtly criminal from the legal, and an
even more nebulous region of offenses that, while technically illegal, are

never prosecuted. McCarty is apparently fascinated by The Zone, and fills
it
with his fantasies: scams, undetectable harassments, nonmonetary identity
theft, and so forth. Some of the things he has tried have been incredibly
nervy, with the quality of a Hollywood movie script. But all have been
failures, fueled by mania, but ungrounded in reality.

Brian is extremely upset right now. The chickens have come home to roost.

His standard of living is about to decline rather precipitously. While
Brian may blame other people, he has only himself to blame. Good,
honest, people do not want to work with individuals like him, who inhabit
The
Zone.
