by 0.9% from a decrease by 1.1%.
U.S. Jobless Claims fell by 33K to 342K for week of April 19 compared
to survey of an increase by 3K; U.S. Continuing Claims for week of
April 12 fell 65K to 2,934,000; U.S. Jobless Claims for week of April
12 revised to 375K from 372K.
U.S. March New Home Sales fell by 8.5% to 526,000 compared to consensus
of 579,000; U.S. February New Home Sales revised down to 575,000 from
590,000; U.S. New Home Sales lowest since October 1991; U.S. New Home
Supply at 11 Months, highest since September 1981.
U.S. Conference Board March Help-Wanted Index came in at 19 versus
February reading at 21.
Commodities Markets
Energy Sector:
Light Crude (NYM) shed $2.24 on the day to close at $116.06 a barrel
($US per bbl.); Heating Oil (NYM) shed $0.06 on the day to close at
$3.25 a gallon ($US per gal.); Natural Gas (NYM) shed $0.01 on the day
to close at $10.94 per million BTU ($US per mmbtu.); Unleaded Gas (NYM)
shed $0.03 on the day to close at $3.02 a gallon ($US per gal.).
Metals Markets:
Gold (CMX) shed $19.60 to close at $889.40 ($US per Troy oz.); Silver
(CMX) shed $0.51 to close at $16.77 ($US per Troy oz.); Platinum (NYM)
shed $48.10 to close at $1,970.70 ($US per Troy oz.) and Copper (CMX)
shed $0.03 to close at $3.88 ($US per lb.).
Livestock and Meat Markets (cents per lb.):
Lean Hogs (CME) shed 0.43 to close at 75.00; Pork Bellies (CME) gained
1.95 to close at 77.20; Live Cattle (CME) shed 0.20 to close at 92.68;
Feeder Cattle (CME) gained 0.63 to close at 110.55.
Other Commodities (cents per bu.):
Corn (CBT) shed 12.00 to close the session at 589.50 and Soybeans (CBT)
shed 24.50 to close the session at 1,361.00.
Bonds were higher across the board today:
2 year bond shed 11/32 to close at 99 15/32 with a Yield of 2.39, Yield
Change +0.20; 5 year bond shed 21/32 to close at 97 8/32 with a Yield of
3.10, Yield Change +0.15; 10 year bond shed 24/32 to close at 97 10/32
with a Yield of 3.83, Yield Change +0.10; the 30 year bond shed 29/32
to close at 97 29/32 on the day with a Yield of 4.55, Yield Change
+0.06.
The e-mini Dow $5 ended the commodity session today at 12,853 with a
