Credit re****ts lag retail sales. Retail sales start slowing in January,
the 
credit associated with December does not register until February. That is 
why sales are slowing and credit is rising.

People are using the credit card to fill the tank, that is why retail
sales 
are slowing but credit is rising. People are putting groceries on the
credit 
card, this is why retail sales are slowing but credit is rising.

Of course, you know all of that. I can't help but wonder why you posed the

question ...
