Hoover wound up with the Great Depression in his pocket, and likely
his handwaving made it worse. But it was FDR that really put the
nation into the toilet.

I see you are rather history challenged if you can make that claim
with a straight face.  You left out Lincoln, LBJ and a host of others
that screwed the pooch.
