No different from any other run-on bank in history.  Lack of trust can
kill 
a bank.

In this case, Bear has almost 30B in assets, but not enough to both meet 
reserve regulations AND lend money for profit. Ergo the Fed guarantee, and

Monday's almost certain announcment of a JP Morgan purchase.
