Is the Bear Stearns buyout good for the economy??

At $2 a share it's terrible for the shareholders but at least this is
better than the bankruptcy that was looming. This way the Bear clients
are not abandoned and business can continue as usual.  Bear was never
really a rock-solid company anyway. It's always been considered
something of a maverick in the financial world.
