Democracy is derived from the Golden Rule:
If you want to have a say in your nation's
affairs, you have to allow others the same.
If you want to trade & travel freely, you
have to allow others the same.
At the same time, the Golden Rule must
operate across generations, too! I.e.,
it ain't fair that future generations
must deal with more & more crowded
conditions, and have to fight over
food, fuel, clean air & clean water!
