BuffetHater... y'all suggested that fuel prices may have to double to
get people to consume less... in my travels that i do each week to
research business investment op****tunities, i've noticed that the
trucks indeed have slowed down, given that diesel of late is $3.94 per
gallon... most suppliers are adding fuel surcharges, because of the
higher diesel prices, thus why everything that consumers buy has gone
up in price... and i've found that most cars are also slowing down,
with only perhaps 20% of drivers still speeding... i've also noticed
considerably more police staked out along the highway, either
encouraging drivers to slow down, or hoping to issue more tickets to
cover their own increased trans****tation costs... over the last
several months there's been considerably more vehicles on the side of
the road fer sale, fer which at first it was the pickup trucks and
s.u.v. type, yet now it's also the family car, or second car that is
fer sale... here in the Atlanta area, we expect gasoline to be $4.00
by summer, with regular already 3.19 to 3.45 and premium already 3.45
to 3.75... what surprises me is that we're not seeing a big increase
in the smaller fuel efficient sized vehicle on the road, perhaps due
to the fact that most of the s.u.v. owners are indeed upside down
financially and the hybrid type vehicle is priced at such a premium
that most doubt it'd be worth the extra expense over the long haul...
we have been seeing more natural gas vehicles and not just buses, yet
also cars and vans... i've considered getting one of em electric
cars... or waiting till the new Honda fuel cell car, that will be on
the roads in California this year, make their way to Georgia... the
last time that gasoline did reach $4.00 per gallon, businesses
adjusted their work schedules to hopefully reduce traffic congestion,
reducing the problem with traffic gridlock that occurs everyday in the
Atlanta area and thankfully more people did utilize public
trans****tation... yet the fact that, due to housing prices, that
haven't fallen here yet, like in sooo many other places round the
nation, that people are simply stuck with long daily commutes, whether
gasoline prices go to $4.00 per gallon, or even $5.00 per gallon this
year, there really isn't much that people in our neck of the woods can
do bout it... sooo, gasoline will probably go up and up and up... and
consumers won't be able to consume any less...
