William Ernest Reid has accused me of copyright violation. I say it's
'fair use.'
Here's one of my recent and typical posts:
http://groups.google.com/group/misc.invest.stocks/msg/4e330adadea3d55b
In this example, what I did was to cut&paste a blurb from a story and
presented it to this n/g for comment, along with my own observations
and questions, and a link to the full text of the article.
My rebuttal to Bill Reid is that my activity is consistent with what
courts have regarded as fair use: =93quotation of excerpts in a review
or criticism for purposes of illustration or comment" being chief
among them.
=46rom the U.S. Copyright Office:
"The 1961 Re****t of the Register of Copyrights on the General Revision
of the U.S. Copyright Law cites examples of activities that courts
have regarded as fair use:"

What say you all?
Am I a copyright scofflaw, or a user in fairness?
Vote early, vote often. Tks.
