Sadam *-WAS-* a danger....just not particularly to the USA...
big ****ing danger to Kuwit, Saudi Arabia
and a danger to the peaceful and orderly flow of their oil to us

c'mon lets call a spade a spade here... Sadam was trying to become the 
second coming of Saladin... and corner the world's oil market
and we all know how we feel about folks trying to corner a commodity
market 

and _IF_ the _REAL_ danger is Iran, then you need forward operating 
positions to prosecute the mother of all battles.
We now have big ****ing established bases kinda sorta surrounding Iran 
in Iraq, Afganistan & Saudi Arabia
This tactical positioning Will require Iran to defense themselves on all 
fronts, they can't mass defense in one front.
