Our Brillient Congress

Just passed a farm bill which includes 30 bil to pay farmers for not 
planting anything.  This was "maybe" an OK policy when farmers were 
producing too much.  In these days of food shortages, I simply fail to see

the logic.  Another 40 bil is for farm subsidies.  Again, this was "maybe"

OK when farm prices were depressed.   However, farmers are now in "tall 
cotton" and surely do not need payments beyond what they are getting for 
their products.  Almost 200 bil is for food stamps and other food programs

due to the food price increases - yet they're paying farmers not to
produce. 
Wonder if they'll start paying oil companies not to produce??
