That is exactly why it is very important now-a-days to be properly 
globally diversified in your investments.  Own a piece of the foreigners 
that own a piece of us.  ;-)

I personally hope that oil prices stay high as it will promote more 
conservation and greener alt. energy sources.  We will be fine as free 
market economies tend to sort this all out automatically.  The smartest 
thing the US could do right now is to take on more low interest debt and 
heavily invest it in greener alt. energy sources.  We could lead the way 
toward the future and be a better example for the rest of the world in 
reducing polution.
