Winston Smith: Oink-Oink.

by David Lloyd-Jones <dlj@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jan 26, 2003 at 10:27 PM

Am I the only person arojnd the joint who owns a TV?

Did or did not Secretary of State General Powell utters the words "the
sovereign right of the nation to make war" on Sunday morning?

This is disgusting

"Sovereign right" is a phrase picked out of the words of Sertonius (I'm
not sure this is correct: somebody correct me please) the 14th century
Polish writer who surveyed the whole field, and pretty much laid down
the rules the world lives by today -- when "the world" is acting morally
and conscientiously.

To backtrack to the 14th century: the "right" to make war depends upon
two things, not one: just cause and just intention.

[I'm extremely pissed off at myself for not remembering chapter and
verse, nor even thecorrect Polish author, above. Nevertheless, what I
sasy is true, as anybody who goes to the original texts will confirm.]
