I don't know that "serves" is the best word - I
should have chosen "expression". But yes, that
is the hypothesis.

The various anthropic principles are not made up.
They say, weakly, that "things are as they are for
a reason".

In television, a de facto standard which met
certain technical requirements was
necessary before TV could be successful in the
marketplace. It took somebody relatively ruthless,
General Sarnoff, to make it happen.
