Today I saw AT&T with a $2 spread over VZ and so I sold my last
remaining 200 shares
of T at $37.46 and with the proceeds bought 210 shares of VZ at
$35.19. leaving me
with 10 freebie shares of VZ , before taxes.
Now a part of me feels miserable about the performance of this
****tfolio started in October
of 2002 and the other part of me feels relieved and excited of having
learned something
new and improved the strategy.
The ****tfolio is far ahead of where it started in 2002 in terms of
paper dollar amounts, but
the ****tfolio is behind in terms of what I call share-wealth-units.
There was a moment in the ****tfolio, I believe it was in 2005 when the
****tfolio owned
23,000 shares of AT&T (probably SBC back then). Imagine if I had been
smarter and simply
stayed put on that 23,000 shares of AT&T, then today, I could have
begun to sell off in small
quantities the T and bought VZ and ended up with more than 23,000 of a
combination
of T and VZ.
But I was not smart enough to do that and instead now I rest on this
approx 17,000 VZ. Yes
of course I expect VZ to go higher than T in the future and then to
make switches back into
T, but to regain the 23,000 will take a very long time indeed.
So part of me is boiling mad depressed that I had 23,000 AT&T (SBC) in
2005 and now I
have only 17,000 VZ. I am ahead moneywise, but have lost wealthwise.
So I am anxious to turn the chapter and start a new chapter. To forget
the loss and to
start over and to not make the same mistake.
To incor****ate that new wisdom. To improve the Optimal Strategy.
