Re: the beginnings of the debt forgiveness for the libertarian free market warriors, the self reliant, self responsible, rugged individuals, born with a silver spoon in their mouths as they pull themselves up by their own bootstraps with tax payer doll

Very good. Except for the lie you started this with, you are getting
close to some understanding here. Yes, as I have said in several of
these posts, bankruptcy is an example where debt gets forgiven.

That leaves only one little problem with this, which I am sure you
will consider a quibble, since it is factual--Bear Stearns never did
enter bankruptcy, so there was no debt forgiveness.

A google search on "Bear Stearns bankruptcy" turns up a bunch of hits
with language similar to these:
"The stunning last-minute buyout was aimed at averting a Bear Stearns
bankruptcy " and
"Bear Stearns, pushed to the brink of bankruptcy by what amounted to a
run on the bank, agreed late Sunday to sell itself to JPMorgan Chase".
Maybe Google is part of a conspiracy to hide the fact that BS secretly
went bankrupt and had the courts provide protection from their
creditors.

Now I'm not certain, "averting bankruptcy" and "Pushed to the brink of
bankruptcy" may be too subtly different from bankrupt for you to
understand, but I don't know of any provision for debt forgiveness
(except by private agreement with the creditor) due to being on the
brink of bankruptcy.

So, once again, who did they owe money to, and when was that debt
forgiven?
