Why can't gas stations capture the profits due to rising oil prices?

The profits of the crude oil companies has increased lately because
the price of oil has increased.  The *costs* associated with the
drilling/excavating the oil hasn't increased that much at all.  The
rising prices translates to more income to the oil companies, who sell
at hefty profit margin to the gas stations.

However, the gas stations which sell this higher priced commodities do
not see the same increase in profitability.  Why is this?  Why can't
the gas stations also profit heavily from this?

I believe that a better capitalistic structure shouldn't concentrate
the wealth to a few very powerful entities (i.e. rewarding all the
wealth to the few oil companies).  I believe that it'd be more
equitable if both entities, the oil companies and the gas stations,
both had an increase in their profits, but this isn't the case now.
